Keeping the light of hope alive

Carers Conference

May 10th 2017  The Hope Centre hosted a Carers’ Conference in the Adair Arms Hotel led by Ben Delija, Project Coordinator, as part of the Let’s Get Together project funded by ‘Big Lottery: Reaching Out Connecting Older People’.  The event was attended by 20 community agencies and included an education session with a ‘non pub’ quiz led by the NDACT team to help carers reduce older peoples’ substance intake by learning of the effects of overuse of drugs and alcohol.  Caroline Bustard, Pharmacist with Boots Chemist also held an information session to help carers become better informed of the dangers of hoarding medication, mixing medication with alcohol and the misuse of over- the- counter medication.  All of those who attended had a great day with lots of interactive activities. It was also a great opportunity to network and share information.
